The cost of moving to a new home

The figures shown above are for two example scenarios. Your actual total cost will depend on many factors. This is significantly affected by the price you pay (Stamp duty cost) and the price you sell (Estate Agency fees) these being the biggest single costs when buying and selling any property, not just a brand new home. Some of the larger builders offer schemes such as part-exchange and stamp duty paid on certain plots at certain times of year. The other incidental costs may be either higher or lower depending on your individual circumstances and are offered as an approximate guide only for general budgeting purposes. Mortgage valuation and arrangement fees may also vary.

Budget figures for optional, but usual, additional costs:

Curtains/Blinds
Curtain Track
Lamp Shades/Light Fittings
Kitchen (bowl, bins etc)
Towels
New furniture
Shelving
Paint
Bathroom Cabinets/ Mirrors
Towel Rails/Toilet Roll Holders
Rear garden planting etc.
